Bet Ya Can [WRLB060]

Prepare for an immersive sonic experience as Canadian DJ/Producer Hermetik unveils his latest EP, Bet Ya Can, on December 11 via Wirelab Records (wRLB060). This two-track release isnt just a collection of songs; its a journey through meticulously crafted soundscapes rooted in groove-led tech house and forward-thinking club energy. Hermetik masterfully blends tribal-tinged rhythms, analog synth heat, and sleek modern production, creating a hypnotic and emotive listening experience. From the pulsating low-end to the crisp percussion and earworm motifs, the title track, Bet Ya Can, showcases Hermetiks evolved production prowess—driving, rolling, and irresistibly danceable with a bassline built for peak-time floors.

The second cut, Walking and Talking, builds on this foundation, pushing into a more propulsive, late-night soundscape with taut drums, moody atmospherics, and a heads-down groove that locks you in while retaining the EPs overall atmospheric quality. Avid listeners and DJs alike will find much to appreciate in Hermetiks sophisticated approach to electronic music. Born on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Hermetik (aka Jody Mac) grew up amid Celtic kitchen parties, where stomping feet and table-top percussion laid his earliest rhythmic foundations. By the mid-90s he was a fixture in the Halifax and Montreal dance scenes, eventually trading fiddle and bodhrán for vinyl and house music. From Canadas West Coast to the Atlantic provinces, hes brought his evolving house and techno sound to clubs, afterhours, and festivals including Future Forest, Electric Pines, and Classics, sharing lineups with DJ Sneak, Doc Link, Mark Farina, Dr. Livingstone, and Veev.

After a hiatus to complete a music production program, the Hermetik moniker was born—mentored by Canadian heavyweights ill.Gates and Jerome Robins—and hes since landed releases across respected indie imprints like LFTD Global (CA), G-Mafia Records (US), and Mustache Crew Records (BR). Blending Tribal Tech House and Melodic Techno with a hybrid of analog hardware and digital craft, Hermetik is proving that consistency, dedication, and lifelong learning keep the groove moving forward. This release marks the 60th entry in the Wirelab Records catalogue—an electronic label based in Glasgow and run by CJW (Colin Wright) and Barry Johnstone (aka Dark Kandy). With a renewed focus and a string of standout releases, Wirelab Records continues to solidify its position as a force in deep tech, minimal, and deep house. Bet Ya Can will be available on all major streaming platforms on December 11.
