Wave Funktion

Growing up in Liverpool during the late ’80s and ’90s, the emerging UK rave scene kicked off a lifelong passion in House and Techno. After relocating to Bristol and becoming a serious vinyl addict, he started DJing at underground nights around the city.

Dabbling in music production through friends’ studios and borrowing synths for years, it wasn’t until fairly recently he got serious and decided to invest in a small studio at home. Over the past two years Wave Funktion, aka Mike Hall, has been working hard in his new studio setup. The studio consists of modular synths as well as regular hardware synths, drum machines and his choice of DAW, Ableton Live.  His productions, always bringing a live feel, range from dubbed out soundscapes to straight-up rolling techno. Strongly influenced by Detroit techno legend Robert Hood and dub techno masters Basic Channel, these influences are evident within his work while maintaining a foot firmly in the current scene.

With dreams of signing to Legendary techno label Tresor, Mike works tirelessly to finish as many tracks as possible and continue developing his signature sound. At the same time building that proficiency of being able to play live on the hardware he loves. A big believer in enjoying what he does and having fun with it, this ethos comes through in the music he produces.

Fast forward to 2020 and this motivated producer has caught the attention of Wirelab Records and sees his debut release in the summer. One to watch!
