West country-based Scouser Mike aka Wave Function has a long and established DJing career playing around his adopted hometown of Bristol.

A fan of Robert Hood and Basic Channel, his studio craft is well-grounded in dubby Detroit sounds. ‘Xe’ is a profoundly engaging sonic journey beginning innocently enough with a tribal groove and potent low end. Gaining pace and layers of tension the break is an oasis of calm surrounded by clattering hats, punchy stabs and FX.

On the remix, CJW opts for a darker tone. Building a stark wall of sound from the off, its claustrophobic might punctuated momentarily, and he succeeds in creating a powerful partner in music.
